PRESS RELEASE February 2017
What’s hot at Food & Hospitality Africa 2017? The Tea & Coffee Africa pavilion!
February 2017 – Tea and Coffee Africa will be one of the prime hot spots at the Food & Hospitality Africa powered by Hostex expo – highlighting the big beverage trends, showcasing exciting new product offerings from the two favourite beverages in the world, and providing a platform for exciting competitions.
For the first time this year Tea and Coffee Africa – which is hosted by SCASA, the Speciality Coffee Association of SA – will feature a market area, bringing boutique tea producers, roasters, single origin and artisanal coffees to the attention of the foodservice and retail market as a burgeoning business growth opportunity.
Relevant exhibitors will include Chaplons Tea, producers of quality tea with ethical business practices; Viet Coffee, which sources gourmet Vietnamese coffee, accessories and brewing equipment; Illy Coffee, blenders of nine distinct Arabica beans; the Coffee Academy, which supplies Jura bean-to-cup coffee machines, accessories, and coffee beans; and Genio Coffee Roasters, the premier coffee roasting machine manufacturer and supplier that supplies its locally designed and manufactured coffee to roasters all over the world.
Throughout the three days of the show, SCASA will present the Gauteng regional and national finals of the SA Barista Championships, the Cup Tasters Event, and the popular Latte Art Championships, all of which will attract coffee aficionados and connoisseurs to the stand in droves.
“Speciality coffees and teas are bringing exotic and exciting new flavours and experiences to an increasingly discerning and demanding consumer base,” says Nick Sarnadas, Event Director with show organisers Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery. “We’re well into the third wave of coffee, where a high degree of transparency and education is part of the offering from coffee manufacturers and the culinary appreciation of coffee, including the subtleties of flavour, varietals, and growing region, as with other plant-derived products such as tea and wine, is paramount. It’s a sector that cannot be ignored by the foodservice and retail industries.”

A joint venture between ROAR and Exhibitions & Events Association of Southern Africa (EXSA)-llence Awards made it possible to divide the awards into two categories, providing recognition to the best organisers and exhibitors with the inception of AAXO – Association of African Exhibition Organisers ’s ROAR Awards.
By promoting participation in the African exhibition and events industry and recognising excellence in exhibition organisation, this prestigious awards event offered role players who contribute to all aspects of exhibitions and events a platform to showcase their portfolio of work.
